Josh Ehrlich

Josh Ehrlich is the Paul R. Lichter Research Professor at the University of Michigan, with appointments in the Medical School and the Institute for Social Research, and an Honorary Associate Professorship at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He serves as Associate Director of the Center for Global Health Equity and is Principal Investigator of the Longitudinal Study of Health and Ageing in Kenya (LOSHAK), an NIH-funded population-based platform examining aging, health, economics, and well-being in Kenya, developed in partnership with the Aga Khan University–East Africa and the Government of Kenya. His work sits at the intersection of global population health science and health policy, with a particular focus on how rigorous population-based evidence can inform aging policy readiness in low- and middle-income countries. In 2026, he worked with colleagues from AARP, Oxford Economics, the World Bank, WHO, and the United Nations on the development of a global aging policy readiness index. His current focus is on translating population health science into actionable policy frameworks for aging societies across sub-Saharan Africa and globally.
